Their discussion centered on the recent settlements between regulators and securities dealers to buy back auction-rate securities (ARS) which are actually hurting corporate and institutional investors.

Barry A. Barretta
Principal
Barry Barretta is a Principal in Treasury Strategies Financial Services practice. With over 25 years experience in banking and executive management, Mr. Barretta has developed an extensive background in strategy, operations and risk management. He works with clients to develop or enhance their cash management and liquidity strategies, product design, pricing, and service delivery.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Barretta worked at Bank of America/LaSalle where he developed a business process offshoring group, was responsible for a $50 million Cash Management business, and ran a $30 million global trust operation. Prior to that, Mr. Barretta worked at Bank of Montreal/Harris Bank where he was the head of the wholesale lockbox business.
Mr. Barretta received his MBA from the University of Chicago and has a BBA from the University of Michigan. He is currently a director of Family Focus in Chicago and Operation ASHA, an NGO based in New Delhi, India.
John Herrick
Principal
With over 25 years of global treasury management experience, John Herrick brings a wealth of knowledge to his work with corporate clients.
Mr. Herrick developed his expertise in global treasury management through the course of a 25-year career which has seen executive management roles in Belgium and France, including time spent as Finance Director and European Treasurer of Colgate-Palmolive. He has also held domestic functions tied closely to international treasury activities. Mr. Herrick’s knowledge and experience span the areas of foreign exchange, pooling, netting, in-house banking, and regional treasury centers.
Mr. Herrick graduated with honors from Dartmouth College with an AB in Physics and a minor in Engineering. He also earned an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Chicago.
Marika Pappas
Consultant
As a consultant with Treasury Strategies, Inc., Ms. Pappas contributes to the Financial Services practice in the areas of revenue management, market analysis, business strategy, and operational efficiency.
Prior to joining Treasury Strategies, Ms. Pappas spent 3 years in the financial services industry working with Citi Smith Barney and UBS Financial Services, Inc. During her tenure, she gained experience in capital markets and economic research, investment performance analysis, and client relationship management.
Ms. Pappas graduated cum laude with her BSBA in International Business and her International MBA from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. She has extensive overseas experience and speaks Greek, Spanish, and conversational Italian.
